How to Restore the Windows 10 Taskbar Weather Widget

Introduction

If you’ve removed or hidden the “News and Interests” widget on the Windows 10 taskbar that shows the weather forecast, you may be wondering how to restore it. This is how.

How to Make the Weather Widget Appear on the Taskbar

It’s simple to remove the weather and news widget, but it’s also simple to forget how to reenable it afterwards. Fortunately, turning it back on simply takes a few seconds.

It is not possible to activate News and Interests if the taskbar is placed to the top, left, or right of the screen. You can’t even force it to work using a registry hack.

To begin, right-click the taskbar. Select “News and Interests” from the menu that appears. Select “Show icon and text” when a smaller menu appears off of that one.

The weather widget will display near the clock and notification area on your taskbar.

Alternatively, from the taskbar menu, pick “Show icon alone” to view a prediction in the form of a graphic with no temperature or text alongside it.

How to Restore the Weather Card

If you have the News and Features widget active and have deactivated the weather card, follow these steps to restore it.

To completely open the widget, click the widget button on your taskbar (the weather forecast). When it’s open, click the three-dot menu button in the widget’s upper-right corner. Then, from the menu, choose “Language and Content.”

The widget settings will be shown in the Edge browser. Turn on “Weather” in the “Information Cards” section of the “Experience Settings” page by clicking the switch next to it (It will be blue and facing the right side of the switch.).

Flip the switch beside "Weather" in the list.

Close the setup page in Edge and return to the weather and news widget. Click the refresh button, which looks like a round arrow towards the top of the widget window.

The weather card will then be accessible again. You may repeat this procedure with any other widget cards you may have hidden. Best wishes!
